VIDEO common sense regarding search engine optimization

With all good websites certain rules and guidelines need to be followed in order to rank well in search engines such as google yahoo and bing. Many web designers will tell you about meta tags, link juice, search engine algorithms and so on. Many designers will even sell themselves as wizards in one or all of the above and make crazy claims that they have a box of magic tricks that can have google hypnotized and dancing to their song within weeks. The fact is their is no wizardry involved in building a good web presence. Its simply a case of getting the basics right, Good well written HTML code, good useful content and NO TRICKS! I occasionally get client's say things to me like "My mate said he's got this sneaky method that can shortcut to my sit to No1 in search engines" Whenever Im making a website or Im editing its content Im am first and formost making it for the benifit of the visitor of the site not search engines. If you get the basics right in the first place and you content is interesting you will succseed I used to spend precious time explaining how their in no shortcuts and that time and good content is king. This video usualy gets my point over so I just send them a link to my blog.
